Service Description

We are so excited to announce our newest workshop, Crystalline Glazes and Throwing, with Ian Childers! This immersive three-day workshop will take place on October 17th-19th , from 11 AM–3 PM. Throughout this hands-on experience, you'll dive into the world of crystalline glazes and throwing techniques, gaining insight into both glaze chemistry and form development. Due to the advanced nature of this workshop, we recommend participants have a solid foundation in clay basics. Workshop Breakdown: Day One: We’ll begin by glazing and loading a firing. Ian will provide each participant with a small bisque piece for glazing. The day will focus on mixing glazes, applying glazes, and kiln preparation. Any extra time will include throwing demonstrations. Day Two: We’ll shift focus to throwing a series of forms, with discussions on approach, technique, and refining shapes. Day Three: We’ll finish the previous day’s pieces, followed by hands-on throwing practice alongside Ian. Midway through the day, we’ll unload the kiln and cover finishing techniques, including removing pots from risers, sanding and finishing bottoms, and acid etching. This is a unique opportunity to explore the fascinating world of crystalline glazes while refining your throwing skills with an expert. Don’t miss out!
