This course will focus on Ceramic Artist Yoonjee Kwak’s unique coil building technique – clay coils and bits are accumulated outward and upward, in a technique similar to fiber weaving but in clay. Demonstrations will cover a range of sculptural vessels from small functional cups to a mini moon-jar.

About The Event
This course will focus on Ceramic Artist Yoonjee Kwak’s unique coil building technique – clay coils and bits are
accumulated outward and upward, in a technique similar to fiber weaving but in clay. Demonstrations will cover
a range of sculptural vessels from small functional cups to a mini moon-jar. Over the course of 2 days participants
will investigate the beauty of progressive, meditative growth of building one coil at a time.
Skill Level: Intermediate to Advanced
Workshop description:
Day 1; April 23rd 10:00am-4pm (Lunch Break 12-1pm)
Demo 1; A small cup with coil bits in solid shape to understand about process. (Functional, sculptural)
Demo 2; Making a same shape of cup (demo 1) with perforated texture to start practicing the unique process.
Demo 3; Making Mini-Moon jars with the technique we learned in the morning class. Work Time
Day 2: April 24th 10:00-2:00pm (30min Lunch Break)
Demo 4; Medium Moon-jar; Student can work at the same time watching Demo this moment.
Finishing a workshop – Let’s talk about project (casual conversation),Cleaning, etc...
