Altering forms
Service Description
*****This class is only available to current ClayRoom Potrero Members and Students ***** Altered Forms: Creating Negative Space and Darting Sunday November 24th from 2:30-5:30PM Description: Explore the interplay of form, negative space, and movement in ceramics through a hands-on, wheel-thrown approach. In this class, students will learn to create organic shapes on the wheel, using negative space as a central design element. Emphasis will be placed on techniques that push the boundaries of traditional forms, including the art of darting and reshaping thrown pieces to achieve unique, expressive silhouettes. By experimenting with these methods, students will discover how to manipulate space and structure to create visually compelling forms that invite the viewer to engage with the sculpture's dynamic interplay of mass and emptiness. Whether you're new to ceramics or an experienced potter, this course will challenge you to rethink the possibilities of wheel-thrown forms and the impact of negative space in your work.
